Sebastiano Panichella
Supervisor
Sebastiano Panichella is a passionate Computer Science Researcher at the University of Bern (UniBe) and Head of the IDeaLS Lab (Intelligent Development and Large-Scale Systems Lab) at the Italian Institute of Artificial Intelligence for Industry (AI4I). His research interests are in the domain of Software Engineering (SE), Data Science (DS), Life Engineering (LE), and Cloud computing (CC): DevOps (e.g., Continuous Delivery, Continuous integration), Machine learning applied to SE, Software maintenance and evolution (with particular focus on Cloud, mobile, AI-based, and Cyber-physical applications), Mobile Computing. Sebastiano Panichella is also deeply interested in interdisciplinary research, where computer science intersects with life sciences. His work bridges software engineering, AI/ML, and domain-specific expertise, creating impactful collaborations beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Atefeh Rohani
Project Lead/ Senior Researcher
Atefeh specializes in bridging the gap between the rapid innovation of Machine Learning and the uncompromising rigor of Formal Verification. With a PhD in Computer Science, she focuses on ensuring that autonomous systems, where failure is not an option, are mathematically proven reliable. Her expertise lies in applying formal methods to safety-critical software, creating frameworks that allow complex AI models to operate within verifiable safety bounds. Whether it’s navigating an autonomous vehicle or managing a critical control system, she builds the "trust layer" that makes cutting-edge autonomy viable for the real world. She is passionate about scaling these techniques in fast-paced startup environments to turn theoretical safety into real-world results.
Claude Meier
